My fun, highly stimulating lunchtime engineering club is offered as a 30 minute part lunchtime session on a termly basis for KS1 (years 1 & 2) children.
My sessions are all about empowering young children to explore and discover engineering habits of mind through hands-on practical activities whilst creating a link between their school learning and the engineered world around us.
Each session is prepared to provide children with the opportunity to engage in fun, practical learning in an informal but structured environment to further develop imaginative, creative and problem solving skills. As all of the sessions include hands-on activities this provides children with an excellent opportunity to further develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, fuel their self-belief and communication skills.
Each week the session has a theme ranging from invention days to designing an adventure mini golf course to securely transporting a 'very real looking' plastic egg down a slope. Always lots of fun.
All my activities are aimed at providing children with an early introduction into the engineering ways of thinking through visualising, designing, building, experiment, adapting, reflection and ‘try again’ to further develop their imaginative and creative problem-solving skills whilst having fun too.
