After School Club

My after school engineering club is offered as a 1 hour session on a termly basis for KS2 children.

In my sessions we explore and discuss different fields of engineering such as; aerospace, built environment, environmental, entertainment, industrial, marine, mechanical and many others.  This is then followed by practical hands-on activities undertaken in small groups or individually depending what the children feel comfortable with.  Children will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of materials including Knex, Lego, Technic Lego, card, popsicle sticks, fold back clips etc, to create a solution to a challenge.

My fun practical activities and challenges will stimulate curiosity, creativity and encourage children to experiment, question and collaborate to create their own version of an engineered solution, whilst developing engineering habits of mind.  I have cleverly designed my sessions to include elements of the national curriculum where children can make links to real life, not only with Maths and Science but D&T, Geography, and History, as these are rich with engineering too!
